Superior
Court of California County of Los Angeles
The Los Angeles Superior Court is dedicated to
resolving and recording legal matters while upholding
high ethical, moral and legal standards. The Court
serves the 9.5 million people of Los Angeles County
with courtrooms spread throughout the 4000 square mile
County - from Pomona to Santa Monica and from
Lancaster to Long Beach. "Alternative
Dispute Resolution" (ADR)
is the term used to describe all the other options
available for settling a dispute that once had to be
settled in court. ADR processes such as arbitration,
mediation and settlement conferences are less formal
than court and provide opportunities for litigants to
reach an agreement using a problem-solving approach
rather than the more adversarial approach of
litigation.
Pepperdine
University School of Law - The Straus Institute for
Dispute Resolution
In 1986, Pepperdine University School of Law began its
innovative graduate work in dispute resolution that
now includes more programs than any other American law
school. Providing the most comprehensive and
utilitarian reconciliation strategies in the nation,
the Straus Institute offers its students two tracks of
educational pursuit: the academic
programs and the training
programs. Law and
graduate students as well as mid-career professionals
can participate in the largest Professional
Certificate Program in Dispute Resolution and the
first Master of Dispute Resolution (MDR) degree
program offered by a law school. Those who possess a
law degree from a recognized law school can apply for
our new LL. M. in Dispute Resolution program.
